How to choose the right size tablecloth
Before ordering, measure your table from edge to edge — length and width. The tablecloth should always be larger than your table to allow for a comfortable overhang, known as the "drop." When in doubt, always go for the larger size!
As a general guide to drop sizes:
- Casual drop (15–20 cm) — ideal for everyday use, outdoor dining and relaxed occasions.
- Formal & elegant drop (30–40 cm) — perfect for semi-formal and formal settings, special occasions and elegant dinners.
170×170 cm — ideal for square or round tables up to 120 cm in length/diameter, generally seating 2 to 4 people.
170×250 cm — ideal for tables between 140–200 cm in length, generally seating 4 to 6 people.
170×320 cm — ideal for tables between 210–270 cm in length, generally seating 6 to 8 people.
Using a square tablecloth on a round table? The 170×170 cm cloth works beautifully on a round table of 90–120 cm in diameter. The four corners drape down to create an elegant decorative effect that looks particularly striking for special occasions.
Have an oval table? A rectangular tablecloth works beautifully on an oval table. Simply measure your table at its widest and longest points and use those dimensions to choose your size, just as you would for a rectangular table. The cloth will drape naturally over the curved edges for an elegant finish.
